Why Ferritic Stainless Steel?

At EZY Q, we’ve chosen to manufacture our fire pits and hot plates using a specially selected grade of ferritic stainless steel. After extensive research and testing, we found this material offers the best performance for high-heat outdoor cooking gear.

Unlike the more common 304 or 316 stainless steels, ferritic stainless steel is magnetic and contains a higher carbon content, which enhances its thermal conductivity. This means heat is distributed more evenly, reducing the risk of warping or distortion under extreme temperatures — ideal for fire pits and BBQ plates.

Additionally, ferritic stainless steel provides up to 200 times more corrosion resistance than mild steel, making it a highly durable and practical choice for rugged outdoor use.

Please Note:

  • Use gloves during assembly/disassembly – edges may be sharp
  • Expect surface discoloration or patina with use – this does not affect performance
  • Ferritic stainless steel has slightly less corrosion resistance than 304/316 grades. For best longevity, dry thoroughly before storing and occasionally oil the surface to enhance protection
  • The steel parts may have some marks/texture or scratches from the manufacturing process
  • Some warping over time is normal – alternate panel sides between uses to reduce this
  • Always supervise children and pets when the fire pit is in use

Manufactured in Australia from Stainless Steel sourced from South Africa. The raw finish may have some slight imperfections, see examples below.
