🔥 Safe Use

⚠️ Designed for use with one solid plate at a time, as per Weber's guidance. Pair it with our grill or your original Weber grate.
⚠️ To protect your plates, preheat with the lid down for 10 to 15 minutes, then reduce to low or medium heat. Avoid leaving all burners on HIGH with the lid down for long periods.
📖 Follow your Weber owner's manual for preheating and safe operating instructions.
⚠️ Plates and grill get extremely hot. Use heat-protective gloves and handle with care. Edges may be sharp.

⚙️ What Is Ferritic Stainless Steel?

After testing different materials, we chose ferritic stainless steel for our hotplates because 304 and 316 (austenitic stainless steels) tended to distort under high heat. Ferritic conducts heat better, expands less and heats more evenly, making it less prone to warping. It's naturally magnetic, which is normal and doesn't affect performance. It has lower chromium and nickel than 304/316 stainless, so it's less corrosion resistant. A little care keeps it in top shape: season it, scrape off food after cooking and dry it well before storing.

🧼 Care Instructions

1️⃣ Season before use: Lightly coat with cooking oil and heat for a few minutes to improve food release. Wipe off excess oil with a paper towel (use heat-protective gloves).
2️⃣ Cleaning after use: While still hot, scrape off food residue. For a deeper clean, pour a small amount of water onto the surface and scrub with a sponge. ⚠️ Be cautious of hot steam and wear protective gloves. We recommend re-coating with oil after cleaning to protect the surface. Do not put the plates in the dishwasher, as harsh chemicals can strip the seasoning.
3️⃣ Storage: Make sure the plates are completely dry before storing to prevent corrosion.
4️⃣ Removing build-up: If build-up appears, scrub it off with a stainless steel scourer or brush, then rinse, dry well and re-season. It's usually just surface level and cleans up nicely.

ℹ️ Important Information

🔍 These plates are cut from steel sheets with an industrial mill finish. They are not polished and have no surface treatments. Due to the manufacturing process, your plates may have visible light scratches or marks, which do not affect performance. Normal use will result in additional surface marks over time, which are cosmetic only.
🎨 With use and high heat, the steel will naturally darken and develop a patina. This is cosmetic and doesn't affect performance.
🛡️ This ferritic stainless steel has lower corrosion resistance than 304/316. Seasoning with heat and oil creates a protective layer.
